GPs are a waste of money.

Summary: GPs are a waste of money.

GP’s are a waste of money. I’ve had 30 years of pain, dozens of GP appointments and no diagnosis until I had a 2 minute scan at a private clinic. GP failed to diagnose sepsis, despite us telling them it was sepsis. Failed to check ketones on 3 call outs. Resulted in a 3 month hospital stay for lack of an insulin shot and antibiotics. Let my Dad die of thirst, refused him IV fluids while he begged for help, community nurses & GP wouldn’t acknowledge his long standing swallow issue when it worsened due to hospital acquired Covid, even though he had a surgical appointment booked for his throat issue, when a 91 year old can’t swallow it is because ‘they get like this’ at end of life.
Aintree hospital’s failure to discharge on time caused severe muscle wastage and HAI’s for both my parents. Confined them to bed for weeks, took weeks to arrange diagnostics and more weeks to arrange reablement care.
Aintree hospital caused brain damage by mismanaging my Mum’s insulin, allowing her blood sugar to go so high it caused extrapontine myelinosis.
Sefton council took 6 months to arrange an assessment for my Mum after her hospital discharge. Aintree hospital discharged her to James Dixon Court reablement unit, to a room with no shower or bath, where she saw a physio once a week at most and sat in her chair all day as her muscle wastage was so severe after 3 months confined to bed at Aintree hospital. After 3 months in the reablement unit, she discharged herself and family took time off work to help her out. She waited months for a community physio who saw her 3 times and discharged her.
