I had a microdisectomy

Overall Rating:

Summary: I had a microdisectomy

I had a microdisectomy in 2023. I subsequently had a few follow ups. I told the consultant I was still in pain and did not want to be discharged til my problem was resolved. He was irritated and eventually sent me for injections. I then had a phone call and he said he was discharging me to pain management. He was unwilling to discuss my concerns further. I went to pain management and they were unable to offer me anything I hadn’t tried. I subsequently paid for diagnostic scans and a private consultation that revealed I had a prolapsed disc which was treatable. I was recommended nerve root injections which I paid for myself. I was told this was not a cure more of a diagnostic tool. Although it has provided some relief. The numbness in my foot has become worse and I am now afraid of falling I’ve been on waiting list since last September for an nhs consultation with the surgeon I paid to see privately. I phoned Walton and was told have a further 19 week wait ahead of me. If my condition continues to deteriorate I will probably end up with permant nerve damage which is what I’m afraid of.
