My GP surgery will only take appointments on the day even for non-emergency issues. I then struggle to get an appointment on the day due to how limited they are and it can take weeks even. It causes me a lot of anxiety and avoidance of attending my GP surgery because of the unpredictability. I have also explained that I am autistic to admin staff and explain how on the day appointments feel like last minute plans which is distressing for me, but they will not reasonably adjust and just tell me to try again tomorrow. All I want is to book an appointment in advance so I don’t have the anxiety of not knowing what I’m doing with my day, or that I’m actually able to receive medical treatment without having to schedule an attempt to get an appointment around work and life commitments!
