Poor communication: Not informing us when mum was in hospital more than once. Poor communication between staff members. Many of the care staff appeared pleasant and approachable however a lot presented as functional and lacking interpersonal skills.
Mum appeared to spend a lot of time in bed, away from the communal area's. Had to book a visit to see mum? On the occasion I didn't she was in bed (4.30pm).
Mum found by family to be lying in wet bedding.
Room: Very little natural light, stains on walls, broken bedside furniture.
Personal belongings going missing. Mum often wearing clothes that weren't hers, often the same clothes all the time. New clothing brought in went missing very quickly and very little effort made to locate it by staff. It was eventually found by family in a box in the laundry on the day mum was transferred to her current care home. Mum's wedding ring was missing for approx 2/3 weeks. Turned out a member of staff had put it in the office and not informed anyone.
Constantly requesting money for petty cash, offering no updates on mum's missing personal belongings.
A very institutional, service centered environment and we couldn't wait to get mum out of there.
