My dad is a very complex case. He has PTSD, is an alcoholic, and was recently diagnosed with cancer in December. Once he'd been diagnosed, they'd referred him to the hospital but we were sent to Oswestry and then Manchester, which is really out of the way. He has now refused to have invasive surgery so they have discharged him. I've had two conversations with the GP about dad's mental health and how he is in denial about his condition but nothing has happened. They haven't done anything. They haven't signposted him anywhere. When I was telling them that he had stopped drinking, they told me that it is dangerous for an alcoholic to quit drinking straightaway but they haven't told us of anywhere he can go to get support over this. I'm basically his NHS at this point.
