They don’t know how to request a t3 test.
Summary: They don’t know how to request a t3 test.
They have absolutely no idea how to manage a patient taking liothyronine (t3) thyroid hormone. They don’t know how to request a t3 test, or how to interpret the results. They recently carried out a thyroid test against my wishes, telling me that they were only testing liver and kidneys. I wrote to them and told them they did not have permission to do a thyroid test because they never test t3. I also spoke to the pharmacist who was ordering the test and she assured me she was not getting a thyroid test and that she understood that the Endocrinologist deals with that. I had already been tested by them recently, so further testing was unnecessary.
When I got to the surgery, I found out that the thyroid test had been ordered against my wishes. The nurse taking the blood went into the computer and took it off, making a note in my record that this was at my request.
Despite this, the test was still done - without a t3 test, so any results were misleading. I made an official complaint to them which has not been acknowledged.
